Hello
Well, I'm addicted to alcohol ... I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired of being an addict ...
I stopped drinking, on my own, for 2 months this past year, but I started up again on a daily basis, and I can't stop.
I want to stop.

I feel the same way about being sick and tired of being sick and tired. How many times do we need to start drinking again? We know deep down it's gonna result in the same thing every time, feeling like sh-t! We need a strategy planned for the times when your sober and the idea of drinking pops up. Sober recovery is a GREAT place for advice and help tho, tons of helpful people. Hope you feel better soon

Welcome Spirit....Sounds like you might be an alcoholic...Or addicted to alcohol....I like to call myself an alcoholic....Because I am one. It doesn't matter what you want to call yourself...If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired...And you want to stop for good....What are you willing to do to make that happen?
Welcome!
So what's the plan to get and stay sober?
I finally realized after 8 zillion attempts that I wasn't very good at quitting by myself. I finally gave in and found my way to the doors of AA, that has made the difference.

Welcome Spirit, as you may have gathered from the replies to your post, the answer is in here.
It worked for me, I do AA and use SR, others use other methods, but nobody imposes a route to recovery, they just support you on that road
Stop around , pull up a seat and join in

Welcome Spirit! Thanks for joining us. This community has helped me so much. Wander around, read what is here, and post away. You have a strong community now on your side.
I know when I was at the point I presume you are now, everything seemed pretty bleak. It doesn't have to be that way. You are about to embark on a great journey.

Once again, thanks for the kind words, peeps ....
I have never tried AA meetings, but I always seem their commercials on my TV.
How do I get into chat? I was able to get in there last night but I can't get in there tonight. And trust me, I am not a troll ... I don't mean any harm towards anyone here ...

Well I'm glad you found us. SR has been a lifesaver for me, especially in the early days.
I wouldn't worry about what to say when you get to the clinic. It's not like they're expecting a speech. But you can also feel free to say anything that comes to mind. No doubt they've heard and seen it all, just like everyone here.
You're going to be really glad you took this step. Make it your No. 1 priority. It's scary and usually hard to envision life without alcohol, but don't let anything shake your resolve or confidence. You absolutely can do this—and you will be so grateful you did.
