Joining u in the journey

Hello all! Been reading ur posts...very helpful and inspiring...short version of me is that I've always drank beer, almost every night. I don't get blackouts, I don't get drunk in bars, I just sit at home and drink, and drink, and drink.

Up to about a 12 pack nightly, used to be a 6 pack...don't remember when it increased. Have been telling my wife and kids that I was going to stop forever. Will stop for a few days, then celebrate my new sobriety with a beer...sounds familiar from many other threads. Lately I've started getting a beer on the road on the way home to jump start my night and yesterday it hit me...WHAT AM I DOING?! When did it slip so far away from me? I have a good job, appear healthy, great family...and I'm drinking a 40 from a brown paper bag in my car on the way to get more beer?!

Today is day one, have been reading the AVRT information and picked up the book yesterday...hoping to have u guys for support to break my "routine" and never drink again..

Thanks all. I hope ur day is a fantastic one!

Thumbs up

My JOURNEY in recovery is a JOURNEY
of a lifetime. In early recovery I couldn't
comprehend not drinking forever or for
a lifetime. Each day that I stayed sober
and each day I fed my brain with knowledge
of what my alcoholism was all about and
how it affected me and others around me,
it was then I slowly I began to understand why
I couldnt drink successfully again.

This journey I also found out is one I don't
ever have to travel alone. I sat amongst many
others who learned how to stay sober a day
at a time and they are the ones I followed as
they shared their own experiences, strengths
and hopes of what life was like before, during
and after their drinking careers.

Member that gave me hope that if they could
stay sober under many circumstances in life
then so could I. And I have for the past 21 yrs.
as my own JOURNEY continues each new blessed
day.

It can for you as well.
