Let's drink!
Hey all!
My wife and I have just ordered £290 worth of drink and will thoroughly enjoy it before going out to our local bar and "returning to the dark side"...mwuahahaha
Anyway, i'm probably going to die within 5-10 years tops anyway, so I might as well go out in flames living the life I have led all my life.
I have no regrets, Helen's liver is about as good as my heart, and luckily she agrees.
I've got one good run left in me, too old and too unwilling to change.
Time to go and crank up the rock 'n' roll
Thanks for your support, and good luck with your paths!

Old Rocker, that is sad. A lot of people here are on your side in your quest for sobriety & in your health issues. Dying from alcoholism might sound like "going out in flames" but it is a sad, lonely, ugly, horrific death.
Best wishes.

did ya have to tell us, Rocker?
if you enjoy those last years it will be a miracle.
best wishes anyway, hope you see reason to be sober soon. your kids probably love you and want to be with YOU. not alcohol. that wont be very pleasant to remember, i know, cause my parents both drank their lives away.
hugs,
chicory

At least I'll be enjoying some good old rock in the company of lifelong friends, instead of sitting in a puddle of my own **** at 80 with a tube up my grey nose.
No thanks
You do realise I'll probably end up outliving many of the sober people on here. I've already outlived two doctors who told me to stop drinking or die when I was 18.
Whatever, the rock n roll lifestyle is my life.
Good luck to StillSleeping - although this is hardly the biggest vote of confidence, I truly hope you find happiness!
I'll probably die of ventricular fibrillation from my knackered heart, so it will be sudden, painless and excitable.

Why is it that if someone said they were going to shoot themselves in the face we could call the cops, but when someone says they're going to poison themselves to death we can't? A rose by any other name...

I do...I think he's some kind of an arrogant self serving A-hole to come onto a recovery site with people struggling with their lives to send this kind of message....At least have the dignity to spare these people that supported you from this lunacy that will kill you.....That's just my opinion.
I'm all for ya getting on, but it is a shame that you can't let go og the hope for recovery.
I just came back from 4 years of totally nailing it, and I survived- damn it all!
But you sound so sure of dying. Why be here?
you are a paradox- set free through the conviction of death-YET-captivated by the hope of life! Sucks!
Feeling for ya!

I also think you're being "optimistic" about dying from a heart attack. What if you hang on and end up like this guy? The Immortal Alcoholic Diapers, in home nurses, bed sores... now he's turned yellow and green and it working on dying, but it's not over in an instant. Far from it. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You should at least know what you're getting in to.
