They're all accessible to a newcomer....I'm guessing Gratitude Meeting is just the name of the group...It should list whether it's OD...Open Discussion...CD....Closed Discussion...SP...Speaker and so on. You are welcome at any meeting as long as you have an honest desire to stop drinking...Check it out..It could be your new Home Group. What is the meeting listed as?

Every group has a name...I go to a noon meeting sometimes called the Out To Lunch Bunch. There's all kinds of names....There's one in another town where I am I want to go to...It's called The Get Off Your Ass Group.
Sometimes it means the topic would be "gratitude" as I know an "As Bill Sees It" meeting is usually when they read from the As Bill Sees It book, which is a series of daily thoughts, each one for a specific day of the year. Here's the page for April 2:
As Bill Sees It
April 2
Walking Toward Serenity, p. 92
"When I was tired and couldn't concentrate, I used to fall back on an
affirmation toward life that took the form of simple walking and deep
breathing. I sometimes told myself that I couldn't do even this--that I
was too weak. But I learned that this was the point at which I could
not give in without becoming still more depressed.
"So I would set myself at a small stint. I would determine to walk a
quarter of a mile. And I would concentrate by counting my
breathing--say, six steps to each slow inhalation and four to each
exhalation. Having done the quarter-mile, I found that I could go on,
maybe a half-mile more. Then another half-mile, and maybe another.
"This was encouraging. The false sense of physical weakness would
leave me (this feeling being so characteristic of depressions). The
walking and especially the breathing were powerful affirmations
toward life and living and away from failure and death. The counting
represented a minimum discipline in concentration, to get some rest
from the wear and tear of fear and guilt."
Letter, 1960
so this is read and then a discussion follows. Meetings exist so the newcomer may find us. I hope your meeting is enjoyable!

Yeah SB...They could be reading out of "As Bill Sees It".....I don't think we have any meetings here that do that...My morning Home Group is "Daily Reflections" and we read out of that and the "24 Hour a Day" book...The topic can be on either reading or open for discussion....Never a shortage of something to talk about. We do have some great Big Book and 12 and 12 Step meetings....Can't go wrong with them.
We have "As Bill Sees It" meeting here.
Unless the people at intergroup have been to a specific meeting, they don't really know what happens at that specific meeting. AA is very loosely organized, but it works!

That's all that counts...I could bring my copy of As Bill Sees It to a meeting and have that as a topic if I wanted...But we got enough.

I'd need it if I was going to use it as a topic. I always bring my ears....Not tonight...I'm speaking for my first time tonight...Just 10 minutes...Opening for a friend in my homegroup at another place....Should be interesting.
