Can I go to a NA meeting if i used today?

Probably a stupid question but I am trying to get clean. I want to go to NA meeting but imitation used today. Am I still welcome? I'm a stupid for wanting to go when technically I'm high? I have only been to one NA meeting in my life and that was over 6 years ago. I just don't want to do the wrong thing. I really could use a safe place to get support but not sure if I should go? Help.

Always go...

There is an oldtimer I know who has been sober for over 40 yrs. He said he used to go to meetings drunk and cause a disturbance. 3 or 4 of the men would walk him through the door and out to the street .... tell him to keep coming back .... and then the men went back in to the meeting.
After a while my friend would show up dry and was always welcomed to stay. He stayed and that was over 40 yrs ago.

Wishing you the best hardy.

Yes you can. Most recovery meeting people are trying to quit. It's a hard thing to quit.

I have been to an NA meeting where the person who had been using admitted it and the group just talked with him, he wasn't creating a disturbance and stayed till the end. One time at an AA meeting, a guy came in drunk, drinking vodka out of a soda can, and admitted to being so. A couple of the guys went with him to his car where they got his bottle and poured it out, and brought him back in, it was pretty cool.
So yeah! Always go, like 2granddaughters said!

Did they drove him home after the meet or took him to the ER?

I've been to meetings seriously hungover, a little under the influence (went home after to drink more) and high on weed.....

I had a desire to stop drinking/using, just couldn't "get it" yet.

Trying to come back

Im trying to make a meeting but i am being discouraged. I am still loaded and the people Im staying with say its stupidity to go to a meeting after putting in. Is there truth to this?

glad youre here, Angel.
its not stupidity to go to a meeting loaded. driving there loaded? probably not the wisest move. but if you can get to a meeting safely
go for it.
and keep going back.

Go to the meeting. Be aware there will be people there who view their drug of choice as the devil itself and will literally be scared to be near it or someone who has used; that’s their baggage not yours so leave the hypersensitivity at the door

The only requirement for AA / NA membership is a desire to stop drinking / using.

Please. Get there asap. Safely.

Yes, yes, yes! You need to be strong and go to the meeting. They will welcome you and give you all the support you need right now. You just have to get there and walk in the door and find a seat. Do it.

People go to AA meetings drunk?
That is something I have not seen yet. Learn something new every day.

If you feel like you can go, go. Don’t drive. Don’t cause a scene .

Most meeting discourage sharing if you've used in.the past 24 hours. This is nowhere in the Big Book or any official literature, but has become a de facto standard. One meeting i go to they took it to a vote and allowed sharing in the first 24 hours.

You are always welcome in the rooms.
