21 yr old female, 350 ml of full proof vodka daily

Hi, I'm christy and I'm an alcoholic.

Been crankin up the dosages for 4 months now.
Although I never drank before then.

I'm afraid to stop, I don't know how to.
I suffered from delirium tremens one night when all I had was wine.

It's horrible to go through, if anyone here has.

I don't even experience the matter of becoming intoxicated or even acting like so because it's become second nature medicinal to me. Like water, only not.

I've lost touch with the energetic person I use to be, but now I've become lazy and agitated and my withdrawals are nearly life threatening.

Does anybody have any sort of advice on getting over something as serious as this?

Thank you so much.

hi there and welcome, you're in the right place.

No one here can give you medical advice, so let me be the first to say "go see a doctor". Probably asap, if you are looking to quit asap.

Probably a Rehab center that's medically supervised would be a great start.

Good luck to you.

Yes you are so young , you can get it early and live a great sober life. Not to be like so many me included where I am lucky to be around after drinking like you but for 20 years.

The way to get over this is to seek help and a plan to not drink. Simple program for complicated people.

Welcome to SR, I would also say if you're having DT's then go see a doctor, you could die if you try to detox on your own. I was a beer guy so my detox was pretty bad, did it on my own and I know I never want to go through that again. Keep coming back to this website and post it's a great place for support and congratulations on your decision to quit.

Definitely see a Dr Christy - especially if you've had a bad detox before.

Not sure where you are exactly (and no need to know) but many parts of the US have free or low cost clinics:

Welcome to SR!

See your doctor for a safe detox. Come back here and let us know how you are. AA can help you seek a new solution!

Peace,

My experience with multiple detoxes is that they got worse. It also took less alcohol to get drunk when I return to booze & went off on a bender. At my worse, I was drinking a 12pack of beer & a pint of cheap vodka per day. I had DT's & remember scary spider webs & rats. I went to the ER then & was given the proper meds & I settled down after a hour or two. Proper detox is a important step on the road of recovery.
