Mothers Day
It's Mothers Day in England, so I thought I'd come and say Happy Mothers Day to all you Mothers, Stepmothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, cousins, sisters and anyone else who does a Mothers job, including you full time single parent Dads out there.
I've turned the tables a little bit today instead of having the boys look after me, it's a rare occasion where I have a day off and all three boys are home with me on a Sunday, so I'm insisting on a good old Sunday dinner around the table. It means I have to cook, but it's worth it!

I had all my children here today and a meal cooked for all of us by my two sons.All of this would not have happened when I was drinking.Spoke with my AA sponsor earlier,she has no children but had had flowers and cards from several of her young sponsees who love her dearly.Grateful for my sobriety as always.

I know today is sometimes difficult for a lot of people.
There's so much pressure on kids in junior school for example to make Mothers Day cards, and so many of these kids don't live with or even see their Mums,I know because one lives with me and I belong to a kinship care group where there are,obviously many more.
And there are mums, like mine, who've lost a child.
It's turned into a bittersweet day for me over the years. Our Joe's mum isn't with us anymore, she lost her battle with cancer almost five years ago, and today instead of giving me a 'like a mum' card as he usually does he gave me an 'On Mothers Day' card and told me that although he'll never forget his mum he's glad I was there for him now he can see what was happening.
That was out of the blue for me, but I'm taking it as a compliment of how hard I've worked and how much I've achieved with all three boys since Joe came here to live, because I'd be stupid if I said it was easy!
And I've got so much chocolate I don't know where to start
