5th day with no alcohol
Not sure if i am even in the right spot...but...3/12/12 i gave up drinking. I have been drinking for as long as i remember. The only real side effect i noticed is my blood pressure is up. I already take medicine for that and it has been even higher the last couple days. I have seen this is common when you stop drinking. I just wanted to see if anyone can give me insight, how do you feel after 10 days, a couple weeks, a month..just an idea of what to expect.
Welcome John! It's great to have you here with us.
My blood pressure spiked dangerously when I quit - I should have had medical supervision to be safe. If there's any way to see your doctor, that would be best. Anyway, after a few days I felt much better, just jittery and very tired. I felt a little better every day after detoxing. Be patient with yourself. Congratulations on making this decision!

I am on day 12 and today is a goooooood day. I am feeling absolutely amazing, which is so shocking because day 11 was sooooo hard! congrat on day 5!! that is great. Keep up it, keep posting, it has been helping me so much.
Hi John - welcome
I think it's often best to see a doctor - especially if you have preexisting health concerns - best to see someone and put your mind at ease If my experience is any guide my BP shot up too.
Everyone's journey is different but I used to start to feel better after 4 or 5 days.

Hi John, congrats on day 5! I'm nearly at 3 weeks now and I feel great other that being tired all the time. I'm loving the rest though and I'm sure I'll perk up if I did a bit of exercise. I'd recommend seeing your doc too. I went after a week and it really put my mind at ease and made the fact I'd actually quit more real.

Hey
Congrats on 5 days John. For me the last time I quit I felt absolutely awful for about a week, terrible for another, goofy/stupid/reactive for 2 more, 80% for 2 more, and getting back to normal after that.
Of course that's just me. Everyone heals in their own time depending on their overall health and all that.
Hope you continue to feel alright.
