Kinda freaked out a bit...

Hi everyone,
been a while since i posted here.
Anyways, i just had an ultrasound today because ive been feeling really heavy in my upper right abdominal area....

The tech who was doing it was lingering a bit in an area and said "Do you and your friends party alot?"

I instantly felt cold.

I told her my friends? no. Me? yeah. Then she said i can see that.

she told me i have early stage of fatty liver and showed me the scans and explained what it SHOULD look like compaired to what it does look like.

She assured me that because im so "young", im 30 lol that she just wanted to give me the heads up so that i dont drink at all while waiting for the results to go to my doctor. and explained that it can be reversed if i take care of myself.

Even hearing that , im still feeling really anxious and freaked out. we originally thought it was going to be ulcer or gallstones...

i used to drink everyday, as some of you might remember from my posts, but kinda kidded myself into thinking i was doing good cuz now i only drink a bit on weekends. which of course im going to stop that also.

sorry for the long post. just cant get rid of this pit i have in my stomach now.

Been there, all the way to fibrosis, and even then, you can regain good health with healthy living, or so I have been told.

Take it as a serious wake up call. But do be aware there is alot of other causes for liver disease, hundreds. Follow up and get a good evaluation. I have a primary diagnosis of NASH(non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) which is more due to overweight, diabetes, high triglycerides, etc...(but thin people can get it) and I added alot of wine to the mix which really accelerated the process.

Just my personal experience.

I hope you are okay and do not have any further surprises.

Get your liver enzymes checked. Fatty liver is caused by alot of factors.

That's what's know as a healthy fear. It may save your life.

Hopefully you are going to some of the great AA meetings we have here in CA.

All the best.

I'm glad you're going to stop drinking completely Vanilla.
It sounds like a great decision

What you don't know is how much improvement there has been since you gave up weekday drinking , and how much more it can improve by a period of abstinence .
Hope you feel calmer soon .
John.
