9 months today!

Today I celebrate 9 months sober! I wanted to post this to offer support to those in their first days of sobriety. Know that it can be done! Even though I know that 9 months is only a start to a lifetime of sober living, it is for an alcoholic like me, a big deal. I was a 16-24 beer a day guy with weed smoked from waking to sleeping. If you're having a hard time out there, get support! I would NOT be sober today if it weren't for AA and my awesome sponsor. Criticize AA all you want (I used to all the time, usually while holding a drink) but the s#@t works! Thats all that matters right? If you find that AA is not for you, find some other support, it's ok to admit you can't do this alone. Because if you could, you would've already right?... Anyway, sorry rambling post. Good coffee and I'm just really happy, in fact, I've been happy alot more lately.

I totally agree about support..there's no way I could maintain my recovery if it weren't for support of other RA's and some very supportive f2f people.

Great Job Dano! I had 8 months this past Sunday and yes it's a great feeling and accomplishment for me! I was also a 15-30 beers per day guy myself. (lost my job)

I couldn't of done it without AA, my sponsor, and this Sober Recovery Community website.

Awesome! I think I'm on 8 months and plan to meet you in the 1 year graduates section real soon buddy!!! Way to go Man! Your sobriety supports those you don't even know. How cool is that?

Congratulations. What an accomplishment.

I am also coming up on 9 months next week and I could not have done it without AA, a great sponsor, and working the steps.

I was one who turned my nose up to AA and thought I could do it alone. What a relief it has been to admit I can't and to ask for help. Whatever program you choose, please just don't be afraid to ask for help. It's out there for those who are still suffering.
