Better late to a meeting...
Better late to a meeting...
..than pull a u-turn and head home because of traffic.
Day 40 Sober
On my way to a meeting tonight, hit major traffic backup that turned a usually 25 minute drive, into 50 minutes. By the time I got to the reason for the backup I saw 6-8 cop cars with their lights flashing funneling traffic into 1 lane in what had been a DUI checkpoint. Thing of it is, they had stopped checking drivers by the time I went by...so it just made me late to meeting.
Real story is that once I saw how long the backup was, the little devil on my shoulder said "F the meeting, just pull a u-turn and go home". But I just cranked the music and kept on course. Glad I did...it was a good meeting and I shared for the first time in that meeting (Ive shared in others).

If I start for a meeting I get there even if it's only for the closing. LOL It still helps me remember who I am and why I'm going there. Good for you to keep on going through the frustration of a traffic jam/stop. Too bad they weren't still checking. You could have told them that you were headed for an AA meeting and they made you late. Bet you both could have got a good chuckle out of that.
