Home from Medical Detox
Went really well, all things considered. The staff was very compassionate and the doctors were great. All my tests back great (including my liver - that was a surprise). They did say, however, that I am anemic and they need to find out why that is. I've been anemic on and off for the last few years so hopefully it won't be anything serious. I schedule an appointment with my regular doctor on Monday.
I'm on a short-term prescription for Antivan for my anxiety, which concerns me a bit, but I only have to take it if I need it. I'm going to avoid it as much as I possibly can.
But I'm still alive and kicking and finishing Day 3 here. Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the well-wishes.

Welcome back, Desert! Medical detox was so wonderful for me. I wish i could do it again. If i could i would. I've hade seizures and i'm a little scared. My husband has vodka he can portion out to me to help come down but it doesn't stop me from being being scared.
Welcome back!
Now that you've completed the medical detox what are you going to do about the mental detox? If you are like me, eventually that little voice in your head is going to tell you that you can drink again. You are going to need a plan to deal with that.

That is great news!
Just beware of the Ativan...I was prescribed it 2 months ago to ease withdrawal symptoms and anxiety.
I just started weaning myself off them on Monday...and even though I was only on a low dose (0.5 mg), it is still going to take months to taper myself off them sensibly (if I don't want prolonged withdrawal symptoms). Don't take them unless you really need to. Not giving medical advice, just a word of warning.
Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
