my first sober birthday in a decade.
man oh man...so today is my 27th birthday! it's the first time i'll be celebrating one clean and sober in quite a long time i'm going with my boyfriend down to LA for the weekend...we're driving down when i get out of work today. spending some time with his family, going to see trey anastasio with the LA philharmonic orchestra!, going to the beach and enjoying the sunshine, hitting up a meeting or two while we are there and just relaxing!
every birthday in recent years has ended with me blacking out, doing things i don't remember, getting really obnoxious and making an ass out of myself and waking up the next day with the "what did i do last night?" feeling. now, at 7 months and some change sober....i'm thinking the only bad decision i might make will involve eating too much junk food/cake! haha

First off congratulations!!! Happy 27th birthday! Second off, welcome to LA may I recommend the Santa Monica pier, or a little city called Newport Beach. Which is down south a little more but totally worth it, one of the cleanest beaches out here without having to hike away from the general population.
thanks for the birthday love
thanks! last time we were down in LA it was too cold to go to the beach. i kinda want to check out venice or santa monica...maybe we will do newport beach though if we have time!

happy birthday ibern- and thank you for reminding me of all the "first time I did this clean n sober" moments I encountered in early recovery. Man, now that was a list!! And for some reason today , your share has really touched me.
