I have a new prescription for this anti-depressant... I havent started it yet and was hoping to get your thoughts and experiences with it? For instance, how long did it take your body to get used to it? What was it like during that time? Side effects? What differences did/do you notice once the anti-depressant began working? What did you find it helpful for besides feeling depressed (fatigue, easy to agner, anxiety etc.) Thank you in advance

I took this for a while years ago.
The first week or so was rough--insomnia and anxiety all over the place! My body adjusted quickly and it also helped me quit smoking! After a week on it I just didn't want to smoke cigarettes anymore. It's marketed as zyban for smoking cessation. I noticed antidepressant effects in about 3 weeks. It wasn't a super happy YAY feeling, it was a subtle okayness that stayed with me. But I had to switch medications because I couldn't afford it.
Good luck

Antidepressants are so individual that I am not sure that it is helpful to get other people's experience.
I had absolutely no problems with Welbutrin, but I know a lot of other people who did.
It works great for me, so that is all I care about.

It made me feel unnaturally high for the first 3 weeks/month and I was glad when that ended and I was left feeling normal/uplifted.
Never felt it really hit the spot and nothing did until I tried Imipramine a very old tricyclic anti depressant invented in the 50's! But it works and that's all that matters.

This is so weird,in that I never thought of it till I saw this thread...I was put on buproprion last May. I don't recall any issues adjusting to it etc. But on the other hand I don't recall ever feeling like "yeah, it's doing the trick". So I really don't know. The dr put me on it after a suicidal overdose and as part of my determination to do whatever it took to recover, I took the meds she gave me (and continue to).
I have gone into a deep depression, but the dr says that is due to circumstances in my life (and yes I am up against some tough stuff now) and she does not think my meds should be changed.
I would say out of the many meds I've been on over the years, this has had the lowest incident of side effects for me.

I was prescribed it a number of years ago. I was told not to take it if I was still drinking, but I did anyway. It's been a while. I recall looking really hard to see if I could detect any defects. If I laughed at a comedy TV show I thought that it was a sign that it was working, but overall I don't think it changed my mood much. Then some of its known side effects started kicking in, which was that my chest muscles got so sore that just lifting my head up in bed was really painful, so I discontinued.
in the 80's I was put on tricyclics (Imipramine and Dizipramine). I got horrible cotton mouth and had extreme difficulty staying awake, along with stomach cramps that were some of the worst I've ever had. I was racked with pain to the point that my stomach was arching in bed as I held on for dear life. I was in a psychiatric hospital for a suicide attempt, so I wasn't using alcohol or any other recreational drugs along with those 2 drugs. I've never had luck with anti-depressants, but every one's different and that doesn't mean they won't work for you.
I was given a brain scan and they couldn't find any chemical imbalance in my brain. It was just life circumstances, but at this hospital they felt the need to put everyone on meds - kind of like the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." That' the conclusion I came to, anyway.

One of the potential side effects of Welbutrin that I had was increased aggression. I don't mean annoyance either, I mean full on rage swings. I had talked to my MD about it and she was starting to see this manifest in a few of her patients. Sure I didn't want to smoke while on it, but wow, was I ever aggressive.
