acceptance
"Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation – some fact of my life unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment...unless I accept life completely on life’s terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world, rather as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes."

I like that. Very Buddhist. We are, life is and that's that.
Since you can't change reality all you can do is make yourself sick fussing over it or accept it and move on. Doesn't mean you don't have choices, just means you are now basing your choices on how things are rather than how you wish they could be.
BTW, if you don't like the way things are be patient, everything is always changing.
Your friend,

Your friend,
Oh thank you for sharing that! It was exactly what I needed to read today! I can remind myself daily that I can only change myself but the words shared above really hit home in reminding me that it's not just about 'not being in control of others', it's about acceptance of things just the way they are.

Do like I did, I took him to the potty every half an hour until I saw progress, and then every hour, and he eventually saw I meant business.
Still though, sometimes I have to remind him to go because he gets so involved in whatever he is doing. He is 5 now, I hope he gets over that part...
