I did it!

Went to the hospital before AH was discharged and we both signed the legal separation papers, notary and all. Hopefully I'll be meeting with an attorney in the next day or two to do the actual filing for me (way faster in this county than doing it myself). I'll drop off some meds and a bag of clothes at the shelter tomorrow before the doors open and that'll be the end of it.

Although the sadness is really intense, I can't help feeling like an enormous weight has been lifted from my shoulders--I'm even excited about finding out more about what's been squashed under there all these years.

Thanks, all of you, for your support. There aren't words for the gratitude and blessedness I feel because of what I've found here.

wow. that was quick!

i know that you might not feel like celebrating, but try to do something extra special for yourself, some sort of treat. you've been under enormous pressure and have followed thru none the less. i feel sad for your husband but just remember, he made his choice too.

Wow! Congrats!

Do try to remember to take care of HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) in the coming days. I remember that after the high of leaving, I was thoroughly exhausted from all that drama. I slept 12 hours nights for several weeks before I started to feel normal again.

*hugs* to you.

Wow....good for you!! It just takes enormous courage to do what you've done. The good news is...your own self worth has taken a stand...and that can always lead you to a new, brighter place.

<----giving you a standing ovation!!

I'm with MsGrace - what an incredible boost to your self confidence, albeit a terribly sad situation.

Good luck to you as you begin your new life!
