First 48

No, not the A&E reality crime series......

Passed my first 48 hours sober last evening, attended a AA big book meeting with my sponsor, and made a commitment with him to start moving on the steps.

Physically feel OK, just tired and not firing on all eight (or the front cylinder missing for us V-Twin fans.....)

With time I feel I will regain most not all of my senses, although recovery at 56 ain't what it was at 36.....

Took a little hit yesterday, my girlfriend, who is in detox for opiates, and was ready to begin a 45 day program, has had a heart problem detected, and will need a stress test, and a ultrasound done tomorrow.

This means she may be released, after trying so hard and so long to get in, she is crushed.

Possible heart surgery looms on the horizon for her, and a long recovery.

Although we will not know for sure until at best tomorrow, I am keeping my fingers crossed, and my focus to stay clean and sober is strong.

Anyway, beginning day three, and plan another meeting tonight.

Rex

Well, another test today.

My Mom fell and fractured her pelvis around two weeks ago.

I am an only child without any living (local) relatives.

I fought and fought with the Directors, doctors, social (yeah, RIGHT) workers, hospitals, and rehab facilities.

After a fierce battle, my Mom got into a good facility.

However.

Due to "revisions", in medicrap and state healthcare insurance, she will be released home.....in six days........with an unhealed pelvis......

ARRRRRGHHHHH!!!!

I know I am not out of options, just need to stay sober so I can figure them out..

Not a complaint, just a vent

Thanks

Rex

You definitely have a lot to deal with right now (wow)...... How wonderful that you're determined to stay sober when your ladies need you.

My prayers for all of you tonight, too. Life is hard - there's just no way around it. But there's always good stuff in there too. Whenever I think I'm having a really rough day, I remind myself that at least I don't have to go through it with a hangover!

Keep up the good work!

I definitely appreciate the sincere compliments.

Tomorrow I pick up my girlfriend at detox and get her to the hospital for her tests.

And my Mom's issue it at least somewhat resolved....not to MY (LOL) satisfaction (of course), but at least there is a tenuous agreement.

In all honesty, after my Mom fell, I did have a conversation with her social worker, and apparently (I was somewhat intoxicated.......GASP!!!!!), I did agree to some things......I just can't remember what they were........

If I were sober then, I would have held out for a better deal, but hey, what's done is done.

Hang in there Rex. Getting through this sober will only strengthen your resolve to keep sober. You're doing great my friend.
