First post... greetings everyone.
Just wanted to say hi everyone. What I've seen so far around here this looks to be a fabulous forum for addiction and recovery.
A little about me, well... right now I'm in day two of complete abstinence from alcohol. And as all you know I'm not doing so well right now. A alcoholic for 15 years and hard binge drinker for the last 5. I've been to rehab four times only to relapse on every opportunity. Right now I'm thinking this time will be no different as I've failed so many times before. The problem I have has cost me everything positive in my life, and I mean everything.
Once I get a few more days of sobriety under my belt, I'll come back and hang out some more. I'ts hard to type right now and I can barely put two thoughts together... anyway, glad I found this place and see you all soon.

Hang in there. And if you don't want to write, just read. That's just as important. We are on the same path. I'm on Day two and I share your doubts about my own safety. But one day at a time, or one hour, or whatever it takes. Right?

(((Chris))) - welcome to SR!!! You posted in the right place, but you may want to explore other forums (there's one for alcoholism). When I first got here (I lurked a LONG time), I was all OVER the place, but found ES&H pretty much everywhere I went.
I wasn't an alcoholic (crack was my DOC - drug of choice) but I've learned many a thing from the recovering alcoholics here, as well as those who did other drugs.
I do want to suggest you get checked out by a dr. Alcohol withdrawal can be really hard on a body, even fatal, and it's always good to be checked out. Be honest..a dr. can't help you if they don't know the truth. I was blessed to find a good dr., others have had to look around.

You got the right place - glad to have you with us
I think the key to making this time different is probably to do things differently - coming here is a great start - have you got any others plans?
