30 days sober today
I am so happy I have hit this landmark. In 10 years time I have never came close to going this far without a drink. Its so nice to have clarity and a clear(er) mind for once, like its intended to be! Even in this relatively short period of time I have made positive changes to make my life better and more enjoyable. Complete redecorating, eating way more healthy foods, vitamins and have got back into a physical sport that I abandoned around the time I picked up the bottle 10 years ago.
I want to thank this forum and all its members for the support, advice and kind words that helped me get here. Next stop 60 days, then 90 then 365
Thanks everyone
Congratulations on reaching the 30 day mark! I remember when I reached that point 5 months ago and it was a real thrill to finally be able to manage being sober once again that long. It sounds great you are feeling pride in yourself for this huge step in a better life. But may I suggest that you try to focus 1 day at a time? I'm sure your confident you'll reach those other days you mention at the end of your post and I'm not saying it's not possible by thinking that far ahead but in my times of troublesome drinking. I assumed I would be sober for the year as well. I was mistaken. I drank several times through out 2011 and that summer was suppose to be a sober summer for the first time in 7 years but it never came to be. I under estimated my addiction and was brought to my knees over and over again. Kept telling myself I'll make a year of being sober. Never had happened yet.
But hey thats my opinion right? Just keep going and doing what you are doing and never let your guard down. I never really had cravings until I put it in my head that I would drink then the obsession took over. When I wanted to drink I would, there was no turning back once I set my mind on something. Good luck and congratulations again my friend
