Smile i couldn't do all this if i were still drinking

those who know me know i've been taking care of my frail elderly mother and it's been a rough road, to say the least. she resists all efforts to help her and gets mad at me and complains constantly about being "bossed around". she has alzheimer's pretty bad and is getting worse.

she spent the last few weeks in a nursing home recuperating from a fall and we moved her into assisted living yesterday... about which she was depressed and angry.

i am SO GLAD i'm sober as i could never do all these things for her if i were still drinking. and since i'm the kid closest to her in distance (same town) i end up doing the most and bearing the brunt of her anger. sober, i can do these things and that makes me feel grateful for my sobriety.

it's amazing how being sober has opened up my life and made it possible to be there for mom, even tho she fights against me.

living sober rocks!

That is great! Once we are sober we become grateful.

Being a care giver can be very difficult, you are doing a great thing, even if your mother does not realize it.

Your Mom is so lucky to have you!!!!! Prayers going out for your mom and you.
You are the one that taught me gratitude, and it has changed my life. Thank you.
