180 Days SobER!
Hi everyone, my name is Quickbeam.
I posted here 6 months ago. I was in a bad space and this forum kept me sober for the three days before I could get to an AA meeting.
I am now attending AA twice a week, occasional skype meetings.
I have made a tonne of friends who dont drink
I have actually realised that alot of people I knew before didn't drink, but I just didnt notice it at the time because of my drinking lifestyle.
I still get triggers, but I have phone numbers.
I wake up early everyday , even on Sunday. Morning walk ,
I eat breakfast
I plan my day
I give thanks to God.
I am functioning
My wife told me the other day that she is happy now, because I am [I]there[I][ . Before I was wondering why anyone would want me around.
I am writing at 6 months mark to say thanks to you guys in this forum. Things are going well with me. I am working the steps and have got my life back.
If you wanna see where I was before, check out some of my posts 6 months ago.
Anyone in there first 6 days.. Hang in there. Stay glued to this forum and then get yourself into a program , for me it was AA.

Thanks guys!
I am thankful to all of you as well.
Reading the stories here everyday has helped me.
I remember reading the "Reasons sobriety is good" posts and
saw such hope in them. It was like " I want that"
The first 3 months of sobriety were tough and raw. I was so cranky on a holiday with my wife.
Now I am alot better but I still get some wild triggers and weird thinking flying around my head. I am not afraid of getting a trigger anymore. I just expose the trigger, call an (AA) friend and say "man I feel like a drink now" and let that friend counsel me through it. or I can tell my wife and she will say, ok lets go for a drive and switch my focus out of the trigger.
2012 will be the year of the later steps. Working through 4 and 5 now. I am learning so much about myself. Not all pretty but thats ok.

Keep doing what you are doing...That fourth step is a real eye opener...Good things start to happen after the fifth step. And you always have the ninth step promises to look forward to. And they do come true. I didn't believe it...But they do. Good stuff.
yes- congrats!!!!
i may have put together some time, but your enthusiastic experience is so contagious- and reminds me of my own enthusiasm for the program- Thank you for letting us know what is going on!
