Is Brain Fog A Common Symptom Of Withdrawal?
It's been about a week since my last drink. The first few days were tough; Insomnia, panic attacks, ect. After a week though most of the symptoms seem to be slowly fading away but one. I have this pressure in my head that I can't really describe but "Brain Fog". It feels like my mind is cloudy and I have trouble concentrating. Also, I get very dizzy very often. If I'm lying on a couch or something and get up very suddenly I get such an intense dizzy spell I almost feel like I'm going to pass out. I'm just curious is dizziness and brain fog a common symptom of alcohol withdrawal?
Yes KC I know what you mean and can safely say (for me at least) it does clear!
I can't say exactly when but somewhere between 25 and 35 days I stopped and thought 'where has that head-mush gone?', now I am on day 45 and I'm quicker at thinking and have a longer attention span, it's still not the best attention span - I doubt it never will be!
It will go, and I'm sure it is a common symptom, stick with the quitting you have done so well and look forward to a fog-free you ;-)

Check with your doctor to be on the safe side. But I experienced some dizziness/vertigo about 60 days after my last drink (in addition to fogginess, confusion, irritability, etc). I saw multiple doctors and had pretty much anything serious ruled out. It cleared after a few weeks, so I've chalked it up to post-acute withdrawal.
On another note, congrats on one week!

Oh yes.
From 'brain mush' to brain fog was sure how I describe what happened to me.
However, you are mentioning dizziness when you sit up quickly and that raises some 'red flags', enough so for me to say
Please consult with your doctor and be honest with them. How much you were drinking, when you quit, etc what is happening now.
Please get it checked out to be on the safe side.

Yup ,
To many people expect to be normal in a flash. For me I used so much for so long. That my doctor told me it would take a year to truly detoxify my brain, and have it working the way it always should have.
Keep doing what your doing
