The hangover/ withdrawal

After a binge= explosive diarrhea, headache, skin crawling, night sweats, heart racing, anxiety, nausea, trembling, chilled to the bone, body aches all over, fatigue, dry mouth, insomnia, etc. To name some.

That's just physical-
Emotional= Depression, self loathing, shame, guilt, regret, anxiety, despair, etc.

You can add if you like, these were my post drinking experiences.

Now, I look back & think... This is what I got for 24-70+ hrs after drinking for maybe 6 hours of " fun". If I could even remember half of my "fun"

Worth it? NOT AT ALL.
Play the tape to the end. It is not fun.

Mine were all of yours and more like throwing up for 10+ days, extreme dizziness, auditory hallucinations, thinking I was going to die and keeping the phone next to me in case I had to call 911. Yeah....NOT WORTH IT.

Okay, that statement wasn't quite accurate, but it hopefully prompted someone to do a search on the difference between the two.

Sugar bear, you're right! IT IS POISON. If you can kill germs w/ it. Imagine what it does to our cells?

And we wonder why we have anxiety and sleep problems when that poison is taken away!

Give your body time to get more normal, if you can! If you can't deal, see a doctor for meds, but keep vigilant and informed....search them out for possible addictions, take as directed, be honest with those doctor(s), and have regular blood checks and check-ups!!

Ugh. Yeah....my last bender was bad. Shakes, dizzy, no appetite, hallucinations, insomnia, while being medicated with benzos to attenuate it....and then a week later, withdrawal from those benzos....delirium, lost 10 pounds in 5 days, vomiting, panic, didn't know who I was, where I was, what I was.

....and it was supposed to be "fun".

Yeah, it really is insanity. And, it gets worse as time goes on. The last months of my drinking were a time when I felt horrible physically almost all the time. And, yet, it was still hard to convince myself to stop drinking.

ditto....people were starting to ask me what was wrong, i looked bleary, bloated, swollen and shakey....my hair was falling out, my lips were cracked and bleeding, it was getting tough to walk the 1/2 mile to the office from the parking deck, it was exhausting, but probably kept my blood moving.

13 days later Im just now getting over the anxiety. Had several mild-medium panic attacks as insomnia + withdrawal = fried Shane. Never-ever-ever-ever want to go through that again.

I think when we see other people drink heavily, then wake up for a morning jog....we think "Why the heck can't I do that???" THus, we try and try and try to be like them....but we aren't.

Billy Cosby has an incredible dialogue about a man who goes out on a bender and says how he deserves it!
