need support

I'm away from home on business & everyone's going out drinking. I'm having a tough time I know I need to re-learn how to live socially without alcohol but I'm going to hide away for now. I cant wait to go home...this crap ain't easy but it helps me posting here & thinking about where one drink will lead me. Can't remember who gave me that advice on here but its priceless rt now

Quit, I'm new and far from qualified for advice giving.. But I have a similar issue, being on the road on business is where the demons catch up with me... Be strong, be smart, and go keep yourself busy.. I have a trip on Monday and plan going to the gym, watching movies in my room, signing on to this forum, to name a few... I have my fingers crossed for myself, and I hope things work out for you...

Hi Quitforme,
it is great that you are aware of your limitations at this stage of your sobriety, yes hide away by all means.
Hang in there, you will be home soon. You are going to feel so great about your resolve to not drink.

All the best

Have a peek at the phone book in the room, AA should be on the first page.
Might be a meeting right around the corner ....

Wishing you the best.

You got it, just get through today! When things get hairy I remind myself that I need to live in 24 hour increments, that helps me.

How about checking out a meeting as they are everywhere and it fun to see one and introduce yourself in a different city. This place is great but it's not a substitute for being physically around others who are sober and/or struggling as well. I find the meetings greatly comforting now. Took me a looong time before I enjoyed them.

You could always find something else to do. Friday night might have some good movies.

Quitform3,

Yep, just play the tape to the end. You will be so glad tomorrow that you didn't drink I am glad you found something else to do, something that will make you feel good about yourself! Take care.
