90 days and then some
Hello all, I have been really really busy starting up my new business, so, I haven't had time to post lately. I just wanted to let everyone know that this past Saturday was my 90 days. 
I feel like a completely different person, emotionally and mentally (and even physically, although I'm still working on my sugar cravings/addictions and trying to stay consistent about exercising... but it sure is nice to not have hangovers/fatigue from drinking!). My first month or so was really, really hard, and I was up and down and all over the place, so I just wanted to encourage the newcomers who feel like it can't be done... it can! It is hard but if you stick with it, you will be amazed at the results!!!
That being said, my main issue right now is trying to remind myself that I was an alcoholic and I do have this issue I have to work on everyday. I find myself thinking "I wasn't that bad" or "I'm fixed now; I can drink normally." I don't act on those thoughts because I've promised myself I won't drink no matter what... in fact, I play them out in my head and remember all the misery that came when I drank-- and I realize that I wouldn't even be obsessed with the drinking/not drinking issue if I didn't have a problem!!!-- and the thoughts fade, but they sometimes feel really strong so I am going to aim to make recovery/sobriety one of my biggest priorities instead of taking it for granted.
Other than that, things are great... my new business is busy and fulfilling. I went through a period of time when I didn't even think about drinking, when I just felt pretty much like a non-drinker, and I'm eager to get back to that spot... I think it comes from staying focused on recovery, which I'm learning is different than just "not drinking" or even from "obsessing about drinking/not drinking."
Thank you everyone so much for being here for me and for helping me find my way out. I am 150% happier than I was when I first came here. I still have problems like everyone else but I'm learning how to deal with them in a mature way rather than hiding from them or drinking them away. My progress has been amazing and I appreciate this site (and AA and the people I've met there, although I haven't been very active in it either lately) so much.

Great news Pigtails. I passed 90 days and agree with you - things seem so good and normal every once and awhile I think - "Oh I can drink a bit now" - but I know I can't - just the AV that changes her script...
