Day minus 1
Day minus 1
Anyone please help with comments.
I signed up 2 days ago..I did not drink the next day..but I have drank my 1st usual drink already..a half pint..I have intense meetings for a few hours.. I am fooling myself that I can have a couple more drinks to 'settle my nerves' before those meetings...but then.. after that..I am on my own for a couple of hours before I go home. My wife has grown to HATE my drinking. I need to get sober...stay sober... and I need help.

to SR.
You can do this if you really want to.
Drinking is only making things worse for you.
There is plenty of support right here at SR.
Come here when you get the urge and it sounds like your wife wants to moffer you support.
Do this before she says quit drinking or we are finished. That is what happened to me and it takes a lot of time to repair the marital damage and rebuild the trust.
Good luck to you on your quest for a better life.

Welcome. We've been where you are in knowing we need to stop, but not knowing how to make those first real steps.
You will find a lot of information and support to help you accomplish recovery.
I think having a recovery plan in place is a huge help, because many of us need other healthy options to drinking/using in order to stay stopped long enough to rebuild our lives.
THere are many types of recovery plans. Please stay here and read here and you might find one that is viable for you.

hi and welcome RDBplus3
I was in a similar situation when I came here - I drank to get through things - by the time I got here I was drinking to get through the day.
SR helped me put the bottle down and start to turn my life around
You'll find a lot of help and support and advice here
Have you thought of some real life help as well? a recovery group, or some counselling? seeing your Dr?

I did drink this morning, then another half pint, but I stopped and sobered up. Everything is fine at home, but I do want to get completely sober and not be controlled by my addiction to drink. I will keep coming back to this forum, to get insight and encouragement from those of you who have made it through the daily insanity of needing a drink. Again, thanks for the responses.
My wife hated my drinking and drug use too. It very nearly ripped our family apart. I didn't see how much damage I had done until I sobered up. The smoke is still clearing.
I have to do it for me first. Having my family intact will be a wonderful blessing as a result of that.
It takes alot of hard work and determination, but it's worth it.
Best wishes and God bless.

Welcome RDB!
I remember the "nerves"..... like everything inside was shaky and I was holding on by my fingernails (trying to act like I was just fine, of course). I hated that feeling - I hated what alcohol did to me and how important it was - and still found that I couldn't stop drinking.
Coming here gave me what I lacked: support, inspiration, info...... You took your first step today too, by reaching out. We're glad you're here!

My Sponsor used to tell me, "Vic if you want to drink, that is certainly YOUR BUSINESS! If you really want to stay sober, than that is MY BUSINESS!" He than proceeded to tell me, "If you are going on this journey with me, and it is my business that you want to stay sober. Than YOU have to call and talk to me BEFORE YOU DRINK! I can't do nothing for you if YOU HAVE ALREADY DRANK."
At first I thought he was being a complete control FREAK AND azzz BUT today, I know exactly what he was getting at.
I hope you decide like I had to "Make it our business to help you stay sober "
Glad you are sober now
