60 Days Sober
60 Days Sober
I haven't had a drink since December 1, 2011. I'm still dealing with the work-related fallout from my last drinking episode.
But on the bright side, I'm sleeping better, feel good though tired, and generally people are being pretty nice to me. I'm the subject of gossip, but, at least in person, people are being much friendlier to me than they were formerly which is the opposite of what I expected. BTW - I've admitted nothing, and keep my recovery a private matter.
It's extremely comforting to have made the decision that I will never drink again, and that I will never change my mind. Although I'm still paying the price for my former behavior, I know that I will not be getting into new trouble (at least not drinking related).
I've realized, since I sobered up, that I was using alcohol to deal with some personal and work problems. At first, this realization caused me some concern, but then I decided to try to deal with those problems as best I could. I hired a therapist, and a coach, and they are helping me to make the changes I need to make my life better.
From their standpoint, since I'm not currently drinking, my former alcohol use is pretty much a non-issue, and indeed, I don't think about drinking that much myself, which is a pleasant surprise.

Riel,
Congratulations! You have a great attitude! I have fallout due to my drinking that I am still having to deal with at almost 6 months sober, but I figure everything will eventually get resolved as long as I don't drink and behave responsibly. Take care.
