Fell and broke my nose sober

Tripped over my dog underfoot in the middle of the night and went down face first. It hurt but felt funny because I was aware of what was happening. I've certainly hit the floor before but usually without a clue. So I guess a sober spill is something though the nose hurts like heck.

OUCH! On the bright side...since you were sober you remembered how it happened!

Oh no! I haven't fallen since getting sober this time, but I have had some really bad falls - the last couple of weeks before I quit drinking I broke several ribs and had a concussion. My middle name is not Grace, so I expect I will fall sooner or later. Maybe you should get checked out - if you broke your nose it needs to be set. I am sorry that happened. I have four cats and two dogs and they do have a way of getting underfoot. Take care of yourself today.

Wow, sorry to hear about your fall and broken nose. OUCH! I would also suggest getting it set. Saves you problems down the road. Hope you feel better soon.

Best Wishes To You!

(((Fitz))) - OUCH!!! I'm actually surprised I haven't done the same, as my furbabies like to get right_under_my feet.

Praying for speedy healing and really glad you're sober and didn't have to wake up and wonder "um, what happened?"

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

I've got an Irish nose, been smashed more times than a potato. Just interesting to remembering it happening.

My nose is better but hurts to wear my glasses so am also blind. Life can be really funny if you open to it. I am being very careful about puppy under foot. Sobriety is a hoot.

I'm so sorry you got hurt, but this post of yours made me burst out laughing. God love you, MCF - Maybe put an icy pop across your nose and rest your glasses on it :-) BTW, snotty house cat gets her tail stepped on frequently in my place - luckily at night she knows to stay out of Mom's way ;-) Happy Sunday!!

Sometimes I want to cry over the damage I caused and sometimes I do but I usually end up laughing. Without humor and perspective I don't know how sobriety works. But I don't laugh at others, only with them.

Yeah, I have what some people would say is a pretty sick sense of humor - but there have been many times that if I didn't laugh I would cry. It is all in how you look at it - sober life is difficult, boring and hilarious at the same time, but I don't ever want to go back.

Yes I like these lyrics

Why worry
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Why worry now

you might want to have it re-set to be sure you don't have future sinus problems. I fell in a hole in the parking garage at work, smashed my nose like a splattered mess. the plastic surgeon had to rebuild it with all this "scaffoldingl".

i was completely sober when it happened too, my heel got caught in a cement spacer that was not covered and i got jerked to my face on the cement full force. i broke my shoulder at the same time.

Its something to admit that in sobriety we can still be stupid. It was so easy to blame my drink for being human. I'll check the doc tomorrow now its just watch out for the dog.

it's not you it's the dog! I once tripped over my Akita and a wet tile floor, chipped my elbow, i was propelling like a cartoon character.

when you are sober you move quicker and have more agility!

I've come to with all sorts of injuries with no idea how they happened. I just kept making up stories to explain them. Today has been a long hard day but it's been a day. Sobriety is not always roses.

I just broke a toe. Sober. In the morning jammed it into the tool chest in a dark hall. It still hurts 2 weeks later so probably more than just a jammed toe.
Anyway I use to get burns that I didn't remember getting. Drinking while baking and didn't notice it. Actually there are sometimes kind of funny stories. I left the baking powder, soda and salt out of some chocolate chip cookies. My boys said they were kind of weird but ate them anyway.

It is nice knowing where bruises come from now, instead of hummmmm ?
