Newcomer looking for support
Hi all,
My name is Kat, I'm 30 years old with a beautiful 2 year old daughter and an amazingly supportive fiance. Alcohol has caused me a lot of strife throughout my life, and I've finally realized that I am not someone who can moderate their drinking. Although I am very early in my recovery, I am quite confident in my sobriety. I am done drinking, and I will never do it again. It has caused me too much pain. I have a wonderful life, and I would like to keep it that way. I don't want my daughter to go through the same things that I went through growing up. There are so many other enjoyable activities that I can partake in that don't involve drinking. Looking to meet / chat with all of you. I think that support is what I really need more than anything right now.

Hi Kat! I'm a mommy to a 2 year old too! Sounds like you also grew up in an alcoholic home, so did I.. so you know how it feels to be raised in that environment. Your recovery is the best gift you can give yourself, but also the best gift you can give that little girl. We're here for you!

Welcome Kat!!! This is a great place to come too!!! Also congratulations on your choice to quit drinking!! Like you I have a wonderful husband and children but found myself spiraling out of control!! You will love SR as there are so many wonderful people who know exactly what you are going through!!! We are all in this together!! Lind

Welcome Kat! You've found a wonderful place for support, encouragement and hope. It's great that at 30 you've realized you have no control when you pick up. You'll never have to go through the hell that many of us did. Congratulations on your new life.

Glad you found this forum - aside from the wonderful people and great support, it's so convenient (helps when you only have limited breaks with a 2-year old running around!).
