dry drunk symptoms
Welcome
I'm not sure I know what you mean by dry drunk symptoms - are you unhappy being sober Stephen? or do you mean withdrawal symptoms?
If you give us a little more information maybe we can help

I don't know what you mean by dry drunk symptoms either.
I think it takes time to make changes in your life that help you to be the best person you can. What changes have you made in your life besides stopping drinking?

I tried living my old drinking life and just staying sober in it...it didn't work for me, Stephen.
My old life was built around drinking. When everyone around me was drinking the only way I could feel comfortable then was to join in - feeling uncomfortable on one hand, or drinking on the other - neither were a good outcome for me.
I think recovery needs to involve change and it needs to involve growth - I think it needs more than just not drinking, like Anna said.
Have you thought of new things to do with your time, new ways to socialise, new ways to make new sober friends?

Welcome, mr.flint -
I don't know how long you've been sober, but I have to agree with Dee - you're probably not going to be very content in a bar if you're not drinking. Over time I found that I had no problem being around alcohol, but I still avoid the times/places where drinking is the "main event."
Developing other interests takes a bit of time and effort, but it also helps us realize there's another world out there that doesn't revolve around alcohol. It's not as gloomy as you fear......

I know for me, I can't hang around bars or any other place that there is alot of drinking going on. Like others have said, I had to change my friends and the people I was hanging around. AA is a great way to stay sober and meet new friends. You will be surprised at how much fun you can have when you are sober.
God bless.

A dry drunk usually exhibits the following traits,
* Exaggerated self-importance and pomposity
* Grandiose behavior
* A rigid, judgmental outlook
* Impatience
* Childish behavior
* Irresponsible behavior
* Irrational rationalization
* Projection
* Overreaction
is a control freak and whiner
negative thinker
angry
in most cases puts everyone down around them and is a gossip
In AA or not, a dry drunk is a sick miserable irritable %^&*who carries the illness not the solution. There is an IMMENSE difference between a problem drinker/alcohol abuser or someone addicted to alcohol and a real alcoholic!!!

“There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own Soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
