10 days sober
Well it was a struggle And I only managed it because of the wonderful people on this forum and the chatroom. I almost drank 2 days ago, opened a beer but thanks to the chat room I through it down the sink without tasting it.
This has been the longest I've gone in 4 or 5 years easily. The aniexty + stress came and went day by day, some of the previous days were really really bad.
But now I see the light! Today I had little or no Aniexty at all. My energy levels have rocketed. I now fall asleep quickly instead of having 2 hours of racing thoughts! My concentration levels have shot up by 6000% I wanted to get sober for myself and also my poker "Career". Before I could only concentrate for 20 minutes, now its for hours, I can go all day and not get mentally tired. Im exercising much more,my dog is getting nice long walks everynight. I feel much calmer as a person and more approachable. I feel cleaner, sharper, alert. I havent looked for a job since finishing my degree because of fear, but now Im happy to do so!
Iv got more done in the past 10 days than I have in the past 10 months, and thats the truth.
So thanks again, its a nice feeling knowing there's a site like this on the net.

Congrats on your 10 days! It's amazing how much better we feel in hardly any time at all. The sky's the limit. Now you can take all that newfound energy and put it towards all the things you've been wanting to do.
Copy the words in your post in a text file and place it on your computer desktop and read them most every day. You will not feel this way every day, but it is something good to remember, because right now you feel so good "compared" to what you used to feel like. After time you may forget this comparison. Remember what you wrote today, so that it will help you later if you get an urge or start forgetting. Great job and good for you!
That's wonderful, tryingtoquitnow! I'm really glad you hung in there. When I first came here, I just held onto the hope that things would get better like everyone said. I had no idea I'd feel like a different person altogether!
Congratulations on 10 days!
Congratulations on 10 days!
Great job - I hear the first 10 days are the hardest.
You're doing great - really - it's so difficult in the beginning but now that you're starting to see some of the good things you'll see the positive side of it all.
Great job - keep going...
