Got an answer back from my email

Well some know here, some don't but last night I sent "the email" to my Dad telling him that "yes, his daughter is an alkie"
Got an answer back. Hilariously enough, I guess I was pretty good at hiding it! He never guessed that alcohol was an issue but he knew something was up.
I know I've shocked him somewhat because he has told me he'll email me back before he calls me.
But the bonus to the end of the email was of course that no matter what, he loves me and is proud of me.
If you want to see some of what I wrote look on this thread "http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/newcomers-recovery/243485-new-day-4.html

I'm glad he responded and in a loving way. It can take a LOT to come clean to people who's regard matters a great deal to us.

When I think back to how I let many people know I was facing addiction, I was not very kind or gentle with them, I sort of threw it out there...the emotional equivalent of puking in their laps. Ugh. Wish I'd been kinder, wish I'd had the faith that they'd be there for me.

That must be a relief to have it out in the open with him, glad to hear it!

Yeah it is foodie. At first I hesitated to respond back to his email but now he and I are discussing it. But I have noticed we are somewhat avoiding my Mom's issue like it was a sore tooth. LOL
