Day 5 - I have a cold, WTH?

So I've come down with a cold. Can you believe it? With this feeling, absolutely no thoughts on drinking!

I took a pic of last night's sunset, it was so beautiful I couldn't believe it. I bet the people around me thought I was nuts.

That picture is so beautiful that it does not look real! Isn't nature amazing, and isn't it great to be in the frame of mind that you appreciate it? Thanks for sharing.

Beautful pic. We've been having sunsets like that here too. I just stand in awe and stare at it through sober eyes. What a gift!

Hope you feel better soon!

God bless.

But sorry you have a cold!!! You and I can be miserable together while we blow our noses and take our non alcoholic dayquil. LOL
After all, misery loves company right!

Sending you a virtual cup of chicken soup and a hug!

Thanks everyone!! I got out of my car and stood there staring. Whipped out my iphone quick as these sets don't last forever! I ignored the feeling that maybe someone thought I was a moron. I really didn't care. It most certainly was a sight to see!

munch: Right back at ya!!

I wound up blowing my nose too hard and long
that it made me sooooo dizzy. I shouldnt have
done that, but because I did, I had a aweful
reminder of why i dont miss having hangovers.

Sometimes, i think things like having a cold is
simple a great reminder of how alcohol almost
destroyed my life over 21 yrs ago and that's
something i wouldnt ever want to experience
again.

Wishing everyone with Winter colds a Get Well
Soon down here from Baton Rouge, La.

Take care of yourself and that cold.

In my first year of recovery I had pneumonia 9 TIMES. On the fourth or fifth time I said something to my doctor about my 'immune system' being compromised and he said:

"What Immune System."

I asked him how come I didn't get sick while I was drinking. He said:

"You did, you were just too drunk to know it."

So please take good care of yourself, especially now with a cold. It does take our bodies a while to heal from all the damage we did to them, even though we didn't think so.

Yes, the pic is GORGEOUS!!!!!

I live in Southern NM a wee bit south of you, and YES, this is NOT our normal winter, we went from absolutely FRIGID temps before Xmas to 65+ degree days now. Sheesh lol

Love and hugs,

Hey Laurie,

I said to my husband, WTH, why do I have a cold? After all that drinking, you'd think I would have gotten a cold then, not now! He thinks that maybe the sudden change did compromise my immune system. Or maybe your doc is right. Or maybe it's just doing around. Thankfully, it's just me, DH and cat, so I can leave work early and get some rest!

We've been getting some really good sunrises/sunsets lately so I had to take a pic. Or maybe I'm just now aware of them.

I wish! We don't get to see those kind of sunsets in the mountains as often as I used to in the city.

I have seen some pretty spectacular sunsets in sobriety.

In Australia, both city and outback.

Hawaii

Caribbean.

West Coast of US

East Cost of US

and THE SOUTHWEST of the US

I know I am prejudice, but I M H O the Sunrises and SUNSETS we get here in New Mexico and up to and throughout Colorado are the BEST in the World.

Love and hugs,

Laurie,

LOL nice post. I loved the sunset in Jamaica. 3 yrs ago I couldn't imagine taking a vacay sober, and now it sounds like something special to me, different.

I mean to say, 3 yrs ago when I tried to quit drinking. I think I just wasn't ready then.
