1st day!

I'm going to try and quit drinking today. Was out last nite and tied one on, not hung over, or not in trouble with law. Thinking clearly (I think), just think its time. Been a drinker for years. Both parents divorced when I was young. They remarried and both sets of parents were drinkers. I drank pretty heavy in late 90's and slacked off some. Now been on 3rd shift for a year or so and it has gotten pretty heavy again. Alcohol has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Grandpa used to make shine, I did for awhile, and the whole thing just seems like family. I feel bad cause now my wife starting to drink heavy with me. We stay home, not usually any problems, but every once in awhile things get out of hand. Time to stop. Hope the detox goes by fast. Cant go to rehab tomany financial obligations and can not miss work. Wish me luck.

Welcome to the family mduncan. You are a wise man to be taking a hard look at your drinking habits. Wish I'd done that before everything fell apart. Let us know how it's going - we care.

Welcome Duncan,
You know to go see a Doc if anything the feels scary happens during detox right? Good luck! Most folks seem to be over the acute withdrawal by day 14 at most. Hang in there or hangover!
