New Year's Sobriety
I've always been a real drinker since university. That was when I discovered just how much I liked booze and tended to get incredibly drunk every weeken - I actually had a bit of a reputation for it. But I wasn't the only one so it didn't matter too much.
While most people grew up after university and started drinking responsibly, my drinking continued to flourish - although in private. A couple of beers every night soon became a 6 pack. Then in was a 6 pack washed down with a bottle of wine, and I did this every day. I mean, that's just ridiculous rehaviour right?! I have gone to work with a hangover virually every day for the past 7 years. I am so lucky that somehow I have managed to keep this hidden and cope with it without losing my job.
Now it's time to put a stop to it. I'm tired of it. I hate the taste, I hate the hangovers, I hate the complete surrender of control over my life, I hate the sneakiness, I hate the money wasting...... I hate it.
Tomorrow I have promised myself that I will be completely booze-free. I'm quite confident I can achieve that. Then I'll set a new goal for the day after that. Hopefully this is the start of something positive.

Welcome! This place is amazing. What you're trying to do isn't easy, but you have plenty of support here!
When it gets rough, I suggest you log on if you can. When I stopped logging on for a few months that's when I started drinking again.
