New From Australia
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have been reading through the forums over the last week and have benefited greatly in my journey to sobriety. Today is day 7. Previously I had been drinking up to half a litre of vodka every night. This has been going on for at least a year. I can count on one hand how many nights I have been alcohol free in the last year. I would start at 5:30 after work and picking kids up from long day care. I would be finished drinking by 9pm. Crashed out in bed by 9:30. That was my life or should I say miserable existence.
The last 7 days have been fairly withdrawal symtem free, only continuous sweating, which I figure is a good sign, getting rid of the toxins. I am looking forward to my life improving and my kids enjoying quality time with their mum. My husband thinks I should wait until New Year, he understands I have a drinking problem (told him about my hiding vodka and drinking every night), but I really don't think he understands the hold alcohol has on me. I am so proud to have made it to day 7 and I am looking forward to celebrating the New Year along with 2 weeks sobriety. I wish everyone all the best in their own journey of sobriety and thank you to all those who have shared their stories. These stories ave helped me through the week and ave kept me focused.

HHjoy,
Fantastic work! 7 days is a big deal...you should be proud.
It will be even better still over the next few days when your body gets the hang of things. You are on the right path...keep posting, keep reading, keep working at it!
Tomorrow morning will be my first hangover free Christmas morning in many years. I can't wait!

Thanks everyone.
Tippingpoint, I here you about the first Christmas morning without a hangover. The only 2 I remember without a hangover in the last 10 years were the ones when I was pregnant. (strangely enough I didn't feel the urge to drink while pregnant). But got straight back into it once I stopped breast feeding, and made up for lost time.
Everyone enjoy a hangover free day tomorrow.
Merry Christmas.

Welcome and congrats! This is a wonderful place for inspiration. To have this outlet to share frustrations and triumphs is wonderful. I look forward to reading more of your posts. Merry Christmas. I hope you enjoy this greatest of gifts.
