Look what I shot this weekend...

with my camera, lol. I went to the wildlife refuge looking for eagles, but was met at the entrance by a ranger who told me it is off limits till February unless I have a hunting license. Bummer. So, I went driving around the back roads out in the country and this little guy was kind enough to pose for me. So cute! I thanked him before I drove on.

He was just across the (dirt) road from me. I guess about 10-12 feet. As soon as I saw him, I stopped my truck and grabbed the camera. I expected him to run away, but he just stood there looking at me like he was curious about me. So I grabbed a few shots of him. Then, just before I rolled up the window to drive away, I said "Thanks!" Then he looked at me like I was crazy and walked away. Kind of a zen moment, I guess.

Great job, he looks like he's 2 or 3 years old, he should grow into a real handsome man!

Magnificent picture!! I love deer, they are so quietly sweet and unassuming.

I'm glad you and Bambi had this special time...and thank you for sharing it here.

Hugs

Nice!

I normally think deer are annoying (coming into the yard and eating all the flowers, running out in front of cars), but you make them look good.

Such an adorable picture. I'm glad you had a chance to take a nice picture, anyway!

And you even got a willing model. So cute. <3

Kind of hilarious that you weren't allowed in because you weren't armed.

I know! Even the ranger mentioned how "unfortunate" it is that people like me have to be excluded in order to accommodate the public hunting program. Oh well, all those guns and dogs probably scared the raptors away anyhow......

L2L,

I believe the type of deer we have where I live are called Coastal Blacktail Deer.

I grew up in the Rocky Mountains where we had Whitetail Deer.
