Over 6 moths sober and a girlfriend and a brand new puppy!

It's all good. First day with my 8 week old lab/border collie pup. I think he's already taking to heeling on and off leash, fetching and keyboarding. Sober life is like normal life doing normal things in normal ways with normal people. How blessedly abnormal for me.

I'm so happy for you and your new puppy.

He is going to enjoy growing up with a sober 'Dad'.

Oh, typo in title. I don't know 6 sober moths but they like to burn themselves up in the fire so they probably aren't. did I mention my puppy dawg is awesome? So is my 7 year sober girlfriend. To newbies (of which I am one) I sobered in May, it does get better, it does get more real. As the Buddha said, "We are what we think, with our thoughts we make the world". I may not be the world's most interesting man but stay thoughtful my friends.

Your pup is lucky to have a sober daddy. The best thing about being sober, for me, is knowing I'm giving my dogs the best possible life.

Fitz,

You put a smile on my face - I am so happy for you, your girlfriend, and your new puppy! It is amazing how things get better after awhile sober, isn't it?

You were there for me when I first started in August. I have always appreciated that, which made me even happier for you. WTG

Smiles are contagious...I had one too, Sissy.
That is awesome about the pup. Congratulations. Labs can be crazy silly, Borders are smart, but stubborn...you have you hands full! LOL
I had a lab/aussie shepard...he didn't know if he wanted to herd my chickens or retrieve them! LOL
Good Job on the sober time. Proud of you.

Sounds wonderful, Fitz - Thanks for the warm fuzzies!

Sober life is like normal life doing normal things in normal ways with normal people. How blessedly abnormal for me.

Well done on your continued sobriety. You sound great. I had been wondering how your indoor plant was getting on. It's all good. Ordinary is miraculous.

LOL I love that, I didn't notice the typo til you pointed it out XD

Congrats on being sober and being a new dad!!!

Remember with a new pup not to over walk him at a young age or you might be opening up the door for hip problems by putting too much strain on growing bones (I didn't know better with my first dog and took him for lots of walks to show him off. I dunno if that caused his hip dysplaysia, but I know with our new pup I was told by the breeder to be careful of over walking him... So just passing on the tip What I wouldn't give for my first dog to have pain-free hips)

Sorry, got off topic! Grats again on 6 months and thanks for giving me such a good laugh lol.

Puppy Update. Things are going great with ma dawg Colonel. Only one major inside "incident" which I surprisingly discovered in the middle of the night walking in bare feet. Nothing like that warm squish between the toes and that waifing odor, how cute, I thought. Of course when I was a drunk I was constantly stepping in ****.

Hip Dysplasia is hereditary. If the breeder knew he had dogs with Dysplasia but bred them anyway, he will make such comments to make it seem like your fault. Running/jogging with a puppy under 1 y/o can damage growing bones, injury of the backend or being overweight - but not walking a dog.
I just had to clarify that...breeders will say anything. I knew a guy that said the client fed the dog the wrong food.

Sorry...continue on....
