Question Which addiction to I conquer first

I am addicted to both alcohol and codeine. Any thoughts on which one I should tackle first!

Yeah, there's physical addiction and then there's psychological addiction. Seems to me you have to tackle both, because you have to feel the benefits of sobriety in order to want to keep being sober, I think.

But withdrawal from both can be dangerous. It's a good idea to talk to your doctor, be honest with him or her, and come up with a plan to detox.

I'd say both but safest thing to do is ask a DR. Withdrawal can be risky

Hi Miss L.
Welcome to SR.

Both are really risky behaviours.

Do you have a Dr you can discuss this with?

Sounds like you need a game plan, a Dr. is a great coach to help you map out the proper safe plan. Good luck you can do it!

Yea what Dee74 say. You don't have to worry about the doctor know your on codeine. He can't say anything to the police. Anyway your doctor know your seeking help.

I say both, but talk with your Dr. first. They both can have serious withdrawls and should be under a doctors care.

Yes, both, I agree.

Do talk to your dr and get his/her advice.

Talk to a doc, but health risks notwithstanding I would go both quitting both. Honestly, though it sounds harder to do both at the same time I'm sure it will actually be a lot easier than trying to quit them separately.
