After drinking heavy for 25 years and the last 15 heavy and almost daily blackouts. Giving life and soberiety a chance since June. With two slips I hope I keep learning more so it doesnt happen again.


The AA way is the way of sobriety , and yet there are slips.Why do these slips occur? Why dont we all accept AA and stay sober from then on ? There are many reasons , but it has been proved without exception that once we have become alcoholics we can never drink successfully again. This has never been disproved by any case we know of. Many alcoholics have tried drinking after a period of soberiety from a few days to a few years and no one that we know of has been successful in becoming a normal drinker!!!
Could I be the exception to the rule?
Absolutly not I have proven to myself that I am powerself over alcohol and that first drink.

For each slip I was just as bad as I left off in a matter off days.

I am on day one. I never gave it a serious try. I hope it all change for me. My life has been a total wreck the past year or so. Nearly everything bad that happened to me was because of drinking...

Good luck man, and congrats at the same time for your decidion to quit. Hope I can find your strength...

I too am on day 20 after 23 years of hard drinking. I could have slipped many times, but I got some phone numbers at my first meeting and so far, by the grace of GOD and the help of some wonderful AA's I am sober today.
