Some times I take a Benadryl when I can't sleep or get back up and read here. Which it looks like you are doing. You'll get through this. What did you do today? Tell me it wasn't shopping! Lol

I still get waves of anxiety but they've been passing after a spell - sometimes they last hours sometimes only minutes. See a doctor as soon as you can but until then don't drink - just hold on ok? PM me if you need to vent more - this is hard but you're doing great.

Magnin,

These feelings will pass. Distract yourself from them. You will be OK. Don't drink tomorrow will be better.

Goodnight

For me the insomnia lasted 3 nights and the anxiety I am still being treated for. Have you told your doctor what you are going through?

I didn't sleep well either for a time. Then it happened...SLEEP! LOL I started sleeping like I hadn't a care in the world. When I felt anxious I'd make a cup of tea and sit at the puter right here on SR...for hours if need be. Whatever it took to stay away from those aweful thoughts. The ones that creep up on you saying dumb things.
I did alot of organizing, cleaning, walking the dog helped alot -fresh air and excercise. Looking forward to my weekly AA meeting also was a help. A day at a time, a week at a time...time and patience...keep going.

Magnin - how are you doing this morning?

And I get it with the sister thing - haven't seen mine in 5 years so yeah she wouldn't be a bunch of help

Please give an update - sounds like last night was really tough.

Simply stopping and paying attention to your breathing can be so helpful. When we're anxious we tend to breathe quickly and shallowly which adds to the anxiety. Take a few slow and deep breaths and you will automatically begin to relax. It won't stop the anxiety dead in its tracks, but it will give you some control.
