is anyone starving??
today is day 5 for me and i am literally starving to death!!!! i cant stop eating!!! has this happened to anyone else?? and does anyone know y this happens?? i usually eat once a day somewhere inbetween hungover and ready to have a drink could this have some effect on y im so hungry??
Well for me...
I would go on 4 day binges of basically passing out and then drinking and passing out again with almost no food intake period.
I would usually be sick for 3 days, with almost no ability to eat. Then day 4 or 5 I would get a little food down... then after that it was like game on.
It was almost like my body was telling me that I needed all of these nutrients I had been missing out on.

Hi there Lor, I'm on Day 2 and eating a lot more than usual - sticking to carbohydrates and chocolate as they are what I'm craving and seem to stop the nausea which keeps coming in waves. Hoping it'll settle down before too long

I think this is pretty normal...you are either starving or can't eat. Drinking essentially makes you malnourished so your body is basically so out of wack it's trying to male up because it doesn't trust it will last. Eventually it will balance out.
I had lost weight during the last months of my drinking and I ate a lot when I stopped drinking and it felt great. But, after a couple of weeks, I had to get out and start exercising more.
Aside from just a general increase in how much and how often I eat, I also noticed a lot of cravings for sweets, and I've never had much of a sweet tooth. Two months and ten pounds later, that seems to have slacked off.

Last night was a big eat\snack\eat\snack night. I'm on week 7 and those days come and go for me, I actually went to one of my old corner (beer) stores to buy a pint of vanilla and a pint cookies-n-creme (I didn't eat it all), he looked completely shocked that I was still alive. LOL I'm planning on fish-n-chips tonight.

For the last month I binged I lost 10+ lbs because I drank all my calories and could care less about putting sustenance into my poor body. Sober for the past 2 weeks I have been enjoying cooking and even letting myself indulge in some "unhealthy snacks" such as chips and candy...I think our bodies are getting back on track. To me, signs of hunger mean we want to thrive
I was 30-40lbs underweight when I quit drinking. I couldn't stop eating for a month or two. Like Femme and Anna said, malnutricion. Many vitamins and essential amino acids cannot be absorbed when drinking so as your body starts to wake up - it will wake up with a vengance.
I was pretty concerned about gaining fat but after about 3 months the food craving started to taper off. At 9 months I'm eating very normally without binging (save for a pot of herbal peppermint tea a night!).
Eating is a VERY healthy part of recovery.

Almost nine months sober, sitting down at the dinner table with my family is a good time and something I've missed out on a lot when I was drinkng, I never over do it but when its time to eat, I eat. ummm, I enjoy and appreciate eating now.
In the beginnng it was chcolate etc for snacks..., now its grapes and cherrys etc... and sometime chocolate

I am on week 3... and yeah... I think I have gained like 5 pounds. I have talk to many, many people about it... and it is very normal to crave sweets. I hear it will even out around week 7. But, for me right now sweets are beter then drinking. So, I am allowing my body what it wants right now ... minus the Rum and Cokes..
