OT - finding peace in nature
OT - finding peace in nature
The weather here has turned decidedly cold lately. Brrrrrr. And I find myself itching to get out with my camera. But, with the cold weather, rain, snow, and less daylight, it is harder to do lately.
A couple of weeks ago, I managed to get to my favorite waterfall. I have been there many times, but have never been happy with the photos. It's a difficult thing to photograph. The waterfall is only about 30 feet high at it's highest point, but the water cascades down a canyon wall over a length of over 150 feet. Trying to fit the whole thing into one image has proved to be frustrating and disappointing, from a composition standpoint.
So, this time, I decided to photograph bits and pieces of it instead of the whole thing. I am happier with the result.

While we were there, a blue heron came flying in looking for something to eat. This is the second blue heron I have been able to get relatively close to in the past few weeks. I said to D that maybe it is my totem animal. He said maybe I just hang around rivers a lot, lol.
The full moon is coming up. I may have to don my hat and gloves and go out for a photo shoot. This is what I got last time I did that. I actually made business cards from this image.
I've had such a jones to go out and shoot, I even went out in the snow/sleet/rain on Saturday. This image looks "textured" but if you really look close you can see the streaks caused by the falling rain, lol.

Thanks so much Anvil. I have found that some people are touched by my images and others are ambivalent. And that's okay with me. As cliche as it sounds, I have found my calling. I will continue to do it regardless of what people think. The praise is very nice, however.

LTD,
Those are some amazing shots. I love how you are able to capture the essence of the moments. I have tried and have learned that some people have that gift... I am not (currently) one of them. My pictures don't show what I saw. Yours are able to show what you see and MORE.
Wow! Keep on shooting.

Your pictures are awesome, LaTeeDa, and indeed they are not just "pictures", they convey the feeling of being there with you enjoying nature at its best. The moonrise is magnificent and not an easy shot.
I too found photography as a hobby in recovery, it got me outdoors and into nature where I too find peace, and I just love trying to "capture" what I see in my heart.
So while you inspire me here, I shall cheer you on and highly recommend the "camera recovery plan" for anyone who needs to get outdoors and enjoy life.
Hugs

LTD, thank you so much for sharing these. I have all kinds of feelings when I see them.
Absolutely beautiful, you talented photographer, you! And it's a breath of fresh air on here, to remember that we are all so much more than recovering people, we are full of our own individual talents that blossom as we grow.
Thank you for sharing this part of yourself~
