Hello everybody. My name is Donatello. I'm 21 years old and I'm currently battling an opiate addiction. I've been heavily into it for about a year now. I've reached a point in my life I once thought unreachable. I always thought I could control my opiate use, but obviously I was wrong because I'm here right now. I've lost all my non-using friends in the process. So it's very hard for me to get away from it unless I cut off my only remaining friends. I plan to start attending NA meetings this week. Hopefully, I can meet some new supportive, sober friends at the meetings and here at SR. Its very depressing that I let myself get here, but I know that I'm young and I can still build a good life for myself. I just need to surround myself with the right people!

The upside to going through all this stuff at a young age is that you will save yourself years of pain.

Hi, Donatello. You'll find a lot of support here. You should be really proud of yourself for taking action now. It wasn't easy for me to stop drinking, but I am so grateful I did. My only regret is that I didn't do it years sooner.
