NAR-ANON meeting

I went to my first Nar-Anon meeting last night and have to say I felt like I belonged. After listening to other members stories I felt comfortable sharing mine because I knew they understand where I am at. After I got home my AH asked how it went. I told him I really connected with the people there and that I will be going back. I hope that one day he will come to a point that he will seek out support too but I know that has to be done in his time not mine.

I am so glad for you that it all went so well. It did for me at my first meeting too and I knew I had found a place of support and hope...for me. And it was about time I did something for myself after spending so much time and energy trying to save my son.

Some take several different meetings before they find one that "fits", so it's a double gift when the first meeting warms our heart and makes us feel at home.

Keep going back, it just gets better and better all the time.

Hugs

Yay! Good for you! So glad you found a good group for you right off the bat! I went to a few meetings that just didn't have the right chemistry for me. When I walked into the Naranon group that ended up being my home group, I felt comforted and safe and at home. I've made many lasting friendships through Naranon and in no time at all, I found myself even sharing laughter.

I think one of the reasons they say try 6 meetings before deciding, is for folks like me who just don't find the right fit immediately. if I hadn't kept trying I wouldn't have found my own recovery.

Good for you! Just keep your focus, work on you. He is an adult if he really wants recovery, he will persue a sound program, if not, oh well.

The benefits of recovery for us in the rooms of Naranon and Alanon reveal themselves slowly so that we can take it in and incorporate new behaviors into our lives. I'm glad that you felt so comfortable so quickly. Keep going back.....it really does work if you work it.

gentle hugs
