Im New

Hello,
I am new to SR. I have tried to quit drinking so many times and have failed. I hope I can do this - I am ruining my life.

Copperfield, you can definitely do it. Many of us drank most of our lives and are now free of the poison. When I came here I was lost and sick. I never dreamed I'd find the courage to change my life, but my friends here showed me the way. I wanted what they had found - a new way to live without getting numb.

thank you - alcohol is completely ruining my life. and it sucks because it is part of my life and career. i have hit bottom so many times

It was part of my life and my career too - I changed both

You may not need to go the extreme I did with the career - I was a musician and there a lots of sober musos - but I don't regret the decision...it was right for me

Welcome to the family.

I too was ruining my life by drinking. It took me a lot of false starts to finally 'get it' but now my sober life is very rewarding and peaceful.

Welcome to SR. One thing I've really noticed with new posters is how much pain and is in their first posts. Then there come the replies from all the other SRs who've pulled through and made sobriety work. Listen to the tone of their posts - that'll be you sooner than you know.
