Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic
since 8-11-90 when I admitted I
was powerless over alcohol.

Thank you for becoming responsible
and letting me (us) know that alcohol
is still kicking butt big time and that it
still doent work out there in the world.

If alcohol stopped working for me 21 yrs
ago, then it surely wont work for me now.

I was handed the tools and knowledge
of my alcoholism in rehab back in 1990
after many failed attempts to stop drinking
on my own. It seemed that my will to stop
wasnt as strong as I thought it would be.

The recovery tools of 12 steps and principles
layed the foundation of a sober life to build
upon and each step i took and each life obstical
i over came, the walls of my recovery foundation
became stronger.

Those promises stated in our Big Book of AA
have come true and continue to do so today as
long as I pass on the knowledge of my recovery,
my ESH, experiences, strengths and hopes of
what it was like before during and after my drinking
to the newcomer and those who are still suffering
with addiction.

The reward of living a sober life has givin me
happiness, joy and freedom from my own addiction.

Recovery is a journey thru life living a day
at a time without alcohol. Poison in my system.

Welcome kd!

Glad you've decided to get sober again. I did the same thing and went back to drinking after a period of sobriety. It didn't seem like a big deal at first, but it set the wheels in motion and I ended up with a worse problem than before.

It feels good to know I'm done with it. Take it one day at a time and keep reading/posting - this is a great place!

Kd3547. You had a question in another forum regarding Schick Shadel and if anyone here went there. I did. Three years ago. Best choice I ever made. In case you were still wondering.

That one got me too.

Thinking I could control my drinking was a losing proposition as well.

After 7+ years, I thought I had gotten "mature" enough to drink responsibly. Turns out it's not a question of maturity. I suppose there's just something hard-wired in me (in my personality? or actual physiology? I don't know) that makes it so I cannot stop once I start. Realizing and admitting that is a very important step!

OP, You can stay sober!
