3 Years For Me Today
3 Years For Me Today
Three years ago, I was as low as I wanted to go. Drunk again with the room spinning out of control just like my life at that time. On October 5th, 2008, I took the first step on a life long journey to live every new day I was given...without alcohol. For the first year and a half of my recovery, this site was invaluable to me and I have not forgotten what an amazing resource the people and the information I found here were to me. I know I have not been around regularly and that's OK, I still hope everyone is doing well.
Today is my three year anniversary. I have not had a drink in three years! Hard to believe that's true but it is. It was my first and hopefully my last attempt at quitting drinking. It can be done, if you want it bad enough and I know I did. Alcohol was killing me. Today, things are so much better. I am more healthy, physically and spiritually. Things are not perfect but I am on the right path in my life and for the past three years and for today...I will not drink. I'll deal with tomorrow when it comes, if it comes.

I saw a post in here a several months ago I wished I had saved it, maybe one of the members or MODS remembers what I'm talking about. It was a long post and it talked about the different stages of recovery through the years and if I recall, there was a lot to be concerned about in the forth year and it talked about how if you get thru that period and into year five, chances for success increase dramatically. I'd love to read that again if anyone has any idea what or where that post is. Thanks.
