Getting some stuff back
Sure, we all want more stuff, and maybe to rent a storage locker where we can put our stuff, like Carlin used to joke about. It's nice when we get new stuff, and in just a shrt amount of time, I've accumulated lots more than I had this time last year. That's great stuff, lol.
But, you know what really makes a difference is getting some stuff back, like our families. I was estranged from my family for over six years and didn't speak with my older brother for more than two years, not once. But today he is treating me to an outing at the LA county fair and to a Styx/Reo Speedwagon concert there tonight. What's up with this guy, the same guy who threw me out on my butt years ago after I went drinking in his wife's car, because I'd lost mine while out drunk one night and a post jumped right out in front of me while I was driving. Now this same guy wants to take me to a place where he knows they serve booze, and he's not worried about it? Huh, go figure.
I'm not worried about it today either, for I've learned that family, friends, (like my SR family and friends) and my self respect and dignity are worth soo much more than all the booze in LA county, at least to me.
Oh, and we're taking my new car, cuase he likes it better than his......, go figure, lol.
That to me is some stuff that's a gift of putting the bottle down and picking up a new life.
If you've got some room for some of my stuff, hey, just give me a ring, lol.
Hang in there, it does get better.
