I finally told my AH that I'm going to al-anon. I was hiding it because I was afraid he'd be mad. It just occurred to me that he doesn't have that same consideration about getting stinking drunk, buying pot, sleeping all day, etc, etc, etc

I can remember when my AH actually wanted me to check into Alanon. Mind you, he didn't do this out of kindness ... instead he thought they would set me straight about my “attitude” and “fix” me.

Then when I actually became aware of the Alanon philosophies and the importance of focusing and taking care of yourself - and it actually validated my beliefs and choices ... and empowered me.

I will never forget ...
He was actually shocked when instead of becoming more submissive and compliant and no longer having my whole world revolve around his troubled agenda ... it actually made me more uppity and self assured.

And I will never forget ... the look on his face when he met the “new” me.
